Today we interviewed and played with the ROVs from last year. In a collaborative effort, our roles on the ROV have been assigned. I will be in charge of putting together the control box. This will require soldering and wire stripping then connecting the charges within the box. Next class I plan to begin watching safety and tutorial videos.

Today I watched safety videos on how to strip wire and solder. I got some practice stripping wire with an old ROV tether. This required me knowing safety procedures and how the tools we were using worked. I learned how to strip wire without cutting it accidentally, which happened a few times. Next class I can hopefully begin on the legitimate control box.

Today I began soldering a practice chip with Casey. This required both of us knowing the safety procedures, I learned how to properly orientate the different parts before soldering and how to suck up any solder mistakes. I graduated to the fancier soldering irons, which I think feel about the same, but the flat tip is more of a nuisance. Hopefully next class I can actually work on our control box, which I was hoping to do this class.

Casey and I have finished our practice with the soldering irons, have plugged the unit into a battery and tested it out. I have now moved on to the legitimate control box which requires me to know how to waterproof and solder the wires. I'm connected them and will begin soldering and water-proofing next class.
16. May.2017
Make-up day: I began working on the legitimate circuit board, and the power cable has been water-proofed. This required me knowing how to do all of this and not be a dummy and mess something up. Next class hopefully I can finish the circuit board.
17.May.2017
I continued working on the circuit board, it only needs one more switch pout in. Hopefully, next class I can finish and test everything and hopefully it will work.
19.May.2017
I finished the board. It has been tested and it works! The power cables have been strung through the strain relief. I needed to be super patient taking off the excess switches and read instructions super carefully. Next class we're going in the pool!
